Once you have decided to go forward with your bariatric surgery, you will need to have a psychological assessment. An assessment is required by your surgeon and your insurance for anyone undergoing surgery for weight loss. It is designed to identify issues and behaviors that have contributed to your weight gain and why you have been unable to achieve your weight-loss goals. It helps ensure surgical success and improved outcomes with weight loss and achieving a successful long-term recovery. |
Our report is sent to your bariatric surgical team so that they are fully informed of your assessment status. It's important to know that your assessment isn't about passing or failing a psychological test to receive bariatric surgery. Our nurse practitioners do not make the decision to proceed or delay the surgery. That is the decision of the surgeon, who will have all the information necessary to make that judgement.
After your assessment, our patients can proceed with long-term care at Clarity. Discuss these options with your Clarity provider or the scheduling team. |
